MISSION TOUR

Elder Dyches asked why we came to the mission tour? He asked if we you came to see our friends? I raised my hand but no one else did. Everyone turned to look at me. Sorry, I'm just being honest. Yes, I came to learn first and foremost but I also came to see our fellow missionaries. I'm am going home soon and I wanted to say goodbye. What better way to learn then with your friends. Right? I think I embarrassed my companion.

Sister Pilkington
God knows us individually by giving us the Holy Ghost.
Walking on the beach and she was told to go back to her hotel.
The Spirit is always available to guide and direct you. However, the Spirit speaks quietly, through your feelings as well as your mind. One great challenge for you and those you work with is to recognize the quiet, subtle promptings of the Holy Ghost.
President Boyd K. Packer taught: “The voice of the Spirit is described in the scripture as being neither ‘loud’ nor ‘harsh.’ It is ‘not a voice of thunder, neither . . . voice of a great tumultuous noise.’ But rather, ‘a still voice of perfect mildness, as if it had been a whisper,’ and it can ‘pierce even to the very soul’ and ‘cause [the heart] to burn.’ (3 Ne. 11:3; Hel. 5:30; D&C 85:6–7.) Remember, Elijah found the voice of the Lord was not in the wind, nor in the earthquake, nor in the fire, but was a ‘still small voice.’ (1 Kgs. 19:12.) PMG
Keep close to The Lord and listen to he still small voice. D&C 6:20

Pres. Pilkington
We make choices every day. Everyday we see the consequences of people behavior. Many people can't see how to get out of their consequences. We have the right of choices. The spirit is with us if we choice correctly. We have to use our resources.
4 Aug 1914 the Great War started here in England. Pres. Pilkington's grandfather fought in the 1st battle in the Great War. Many men were killed. Because of them we are able to preach he gospel here in England.
"To truly remember we need to repay. To repay we need to reach out."

Sister Jill Dyches
Meeting change to revelatory experiences.
Doing things that people can't do for themselves is what we do as missionaries.
Sir Isaac Newton
While he was alive he lived a humble man. He stood on the arms of giants.
"If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants."
City of Enoch - it was lifted up to heaven because they were of one heart and one mind. Our world is wicked. This is why we teach. We need to be obedience.
His gospel helps us to do better by repentance. It gives us a fresh view of the world and God.
Repentance. The Greek word of which this is the translation denotes a change of mind, i.e., a fresh view about God, about oneself, and about the world. Since we are born into conditions of mortality, repentance comes to mean a turning of the heart and will to God, and a renunciation of sin to which we are naturally inclined. Without this there can be no progress in the things of the soul’s salvation, for all accountable persons are stained by sin, and must be cleansed in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Repentance is not optional for salvation; it is a commandment of God (Bible Dictionary, Repentance)
31 And when Enoch had heard these words, he bowed himself to the earth, before the Lord, and spake before the Lord, saying: Why is it that I have found favor in thy sight, and am but a lad, and all the people hate me; for I am slow of speech; wherefore am I thy servant? (Pearl of Great Price, Moses, Chapter 6)
Enoch felt slow of speech, hated and young. He taught by the spirit and put God first
32 And the Lord said unto Enoch: Go forth and do as I have commanded thee, and no man shall pierce thee. Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will give thee utterance, for all flesh is in my hands, and I will do as seemeth me good. (Pearl of Great Price, Moses, Chapter 6)
Need to have faith to teach and show faith. He will fill your mouth.
34 Behold my Spirit is upon you, wherefore all thy words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me. (Pearl of Great Price, Moses, Chapter 6)
"It's a beautiful day and I can't see it." Blind man signs. People gave him money.

Timothy J Dyches
How do you receive inspiration in a meeting like this? Come with a question in mind. Take notes and re-read them. Come with the right spirit in mind. D&C 8:2-3 he will tell you in your heart and mind. I am not settled because...
How to become the. How do we become the best missionary?
1. We need to be me like Jesus
2. We are Not yet like Jesus
3. Things that don't change until we change.
4. Men are not finished until they change.

7 Yea, verily, verily, I say unto you, that the field is white already to harvest; wherefore, thrust in your sickles, and reap with all your might, mind, and strength.
8 Open your mouths and they shall be filled, and you shall become even as Nephi of old, who journeyed from Jerusalem in the wilderness. (Doctrine and Covenants, Doctrine and Covenants, Section 33)

Things that do change reminds the same. If we don't open our months nothing will change. Greek word for repentance  -
(2.) Metanoeo, meaning to change one's mind and purpose, as the result of after knowledge. This verb, with (3) the cognate noun _metanoia_, is used of true repentance, a change of mind and purpose and life, to which remission of sin is promised.
You create your own happiness.
Learn---->know---->Do---->Be
Simplify = Clarify
Verify = testify
What happiness when Do does not equal Be
3 Nephi 27:21
21 Verily, verily, I say unto you, this is my gospel; and ye know the things that ye must do in my church; for the works which ye have seen me do that shall ye also do; for that which ye have seen me do even that shall ye do; (Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi, Chapter 27)
The Holy Ghost is the teacher and can guide us what to teach.

JETSONS

We pass this building all the time on our way to downtown Sheffield or Sheffield 2 building. It totally does not fit into the English architecture. It is too modern to be here in England. Elder Allen thinks it looks like a home the Jetson's would live in.

MISSIONARIES OVER FOR SUNDAY DINNER

We had some of the missionaries over for pancakes and eggs. In a few weeks we will be going home so we have to treat them the best we can before we go home. Elder Krylborn and Elder Sindylek.
Elder Williams made sure he ate everything on his plate. As you can see Elder Frahm cleared his plate too.

We later went checking on a few leads and then stopped by another family. This kids are darling.

TALK AT LISA'S BAPTISM

We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Pearl of Great Price, Articles of Faith, Articles of Faith 4)

The Apostle Paul in the New Testament taught that “faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1; see footnote b). In the Book of Mormon, Alma made a similar statement: “If ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true” (Alma 32:21).

Faith is a principle of action and power. Whenever you work toward a worthy goal, you exercise faith. Just like when you set a date to be baptized today. You show faith and worked towards baptism. You gave up coffee, tea, alcohol and tobacco to grow closer to the Savior. This is your faith in action. Fear is the opposite of faith. You show your hope for something that you cannot yet see.

The first principle of the Gospel is Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

In order for your faith to lead you to salvation, it must be centered in the Lord Jesus Christ (see Acts 4:10–12; Mosiah 3:17; Moroni 7:24–26; Articles of Faith 1:4). You can exercise faith in Christ when you have an assurance that He exists, a correct idea of His character, and a knowledge that you are striving to live according to His will.

Having faith in Jesus Christ means relying completely on Him—trusting in His infinite power, intelligence, and love. It includes believing His teachings. It means believing that even though you do not understand all things, He does. Remember that because He has experienced all your pains, afflictions, and infirmities, He knows how to help you rise above your daily difficulties (see Alma 7:11–12; D&C 122:8). He has “overcome the world” (John 16:33) and prepared the way for you to receive eternal life. He is always ready to help you as you remember His plea: “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not” (D&C 6:36).

Living by Faith.

Faith is much more than passive belief.  The Lord will work mighty miracles in your life according to your faith (see 2 Nephi 26:13). Faith in Jesus Christ helps you receive spiritual and physical healing through His Atonement (see 3 Nephi 9:13–14). When times of trial come, faith can give you strength to press forward and face your hardships with courage. Even when the future seems uncertain, your faith in the Savior can give you peace (see Romans 5:1; Helaman 5:47).

Increasing Your Faith

Faith is a gift from God, but you must nurture your faith to keep it strong. Faith is like the muscle of your arm. If you exercise it, it grows strong. If you put it in a sling and leave it there, it becomes weak.

Repentance

Repentance is other principle of the gospel (see Articles of Faith 1:4). It is essential to your happiness in this life and throughout eternity. Repentance is much more than just acknowledging wrongdoings. It is a change of mind and heart that gives you a fresh view about God, about yourself, and about the world. It includes turning away from sin and turning to God for forgiveness. It is motivated by love for God and the sincere desire to obey His commandments. (True to the Faith, Repentance)

Baptism, our first covenant
Faith in Jesus Christ and repentance prepare and lead us for the ordinance of baptism and confirmation. What is an ordinance? An ordinance is a sacred ceremony or rite that shows that we have enters into a covenant with God. A covenant is it to way promise between you and God.

Baptism is one of the first steps we take to come to Christ. Understanding the symbolism of baptism helps us understand the eternal nature of the covenants and blessings that come because of baptism. Through continued obedience, we can overcome spiritual death and return to the presence of our Father in Heaven. Since this is made possible by the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we take Jesus’ name upon us when we are baptized and promise to remember him in all that we do.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is simple. There are three simple things to keep us strong in the gospel.

1- Prayer. You can nurture the gift of faith by praying to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. As you express your gratitude to your Father and as you plead with Him for blessings that you and others need, you will draw near to Him.  You will also be receptive to the quiet guidance of the Holy Ghost.

2 - You can strengthen your faith by keeping the commandments and attending church each week. Like all blessings from God, faith is obtained and increased through individual obedience and righteous action. If you desire to enrich your faith to the highest possible degree, you must keep the covenants you have made.

3 - You can also develop your faith by studying the scriptures and the words of latter-day prophets. In the Book of Mormon, Alma compared faith to a seed. In order for a seed to grow, we have to plant it in good soil and nourish it by giving it water and sunlight. As the seed starts to grow, we have to continue taking care of it in order for it to keep growing. If we stop giving it water and sunlight, the plant will die. The plant did not die because the seed was bad, but because it was not getting the nourishment and care that it needed to grow. But if we keep taking care of the seed, it will keep growing and growing until we can pick the delicious fruit and taste it.

Faith in the gospel is much like the seed. In order for faith to start growing we need to plant it in our hearts by wanting to learn more about the gospel, and practice its teachings. As we do this, we will see the results and have a good feeling inside about what we are doing. This is a sign that the seed, or our faith, is good and is beginning to grow within us. At this point our faith needs to be nourished to keep growing.

Throughout our whole life, we need to nourish our faith with diligence and patience through prayer, keeping the Commandments and attending church and reading our scriptures daily we will feel our faith grow and grow. If we do this we will taste the fruit of our faith which is eternal life.

(Alma 32:26-43)

I know that God lives

LISA'S BAPTISM

Lisa is a hospice nurse. She took care of the mother of a member of the church before the mother passed away. This member taught her some things about the church and gave her a Book of Mormon. Elder McGinnis and Elder Johnson found Lisa while knocking on doors the day of transfers in June. At first she was apprehensive about attending church. After the second visit by the missionaries she agreed to go to church. The members were very welcoming to her. She is so excited to be baptized, she even asked to have her baptism day to move to the 19th of July instead of July 26th.

The was a thunder storm that came up about 4:30 PM the night of her baptism. Some members evern called to see if we were going to cancel the baptism because of the rain. NO of course not. It rains all the time in England. Why would we cancel it? It went on as planned.

Lisa was there early enough to dress in while and take photos. She had asked me to give a talk on faith, repentance and baptism. Elder Wells gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. Elder Allen did the baptizing. There was lots of family, friends and ward members from Ward 2 there to support her. That night of the baptism when she got in the water it was very hot. The Elders wanted to make sure it was warm and not cold. The problem was it was too hot and almost too hot. Elder Allen was afraid she was going to back out. As she stepped into the water you could see the fear in her eyes and she did back up out of the water at first. But then she decided  to give it a try. In and out of the water she went. When it was over  she looked like a lobster when she got out of the water.  I'm glad she only had to do this once. She was so happy and so were we. It all worked out.
Elder Shurtliff and Elder Johnson are excited for tonight.

LAST FLAT INSPECTION IN BARNSLEY

Elder Eisert, Elder Volet, Elder Atkins and Elder Flowers.
Elder Stingfellow was on exchange with Elder Atkins from Doncaster area when we went to do the flat inspection. Elder Stingfellow is the district leader and they do exchanges every so often and today happened to be that day. Elder Eisert got a package from home. He has a sister serving a mission in California. By mistake his mother sent he sisters package to him and his package to her. I don't think Elder Eisert can wear a skirt. I thought it was funny. To bad he has to pay to send it all back to the states.
President asked each team to take a photo of themselves in front of a war memorial for the mission tour next week. This one is in Rotherham.
