CASTLE HOWARD

The entrance to Castle Howard was massive and huge. It went on for a mile or so until we came to a monument that looked much like the Washington Monument.

Home to the Howard family for over 300 years, Castle Howard is a magnificent 18th century residence set within 1,000 acres of breathtaking landscape in the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of North Yorkshire. Castle Howard is one of Yorkshire's finest historic house and estate.

We tried on hats in the Garden shop. I finally bought one to keep my head warm and it did not mess up my hair. You know it is all about the look.

Willson's, Allen's and Gibb's
This is the backyard or back garden as they would call it.

Elder Allen got a kick out of this Royal Marriott Throne.
 Wooden cradle
China closet with different china for different occasions.

This statue was made between 100 and 300 AD
Massive fireplace

Four seasons depicted in the ceiling dome.
Other side of the entry way under the dome.

I found this interesting that the fabric on the furniture and the walls are the same.
Falling asleep.

Chapel in Castle Howard. I wounder if they go to church in their PJ's?
 Yorkshire rose ceilings

This wine cooler cost is over 300 pounds and was given as a gift to the Howards. An up close photo of the detail of the wine cooler.
