MISSION TOUR - PATRICK KEARON

A mission tour is when a General Authority comes to tour the mission. We had Elder Patrick Kearon. He is a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy. Elder Kearon was born in England and joined the church on Christmas Eve 1987. He was introduced to the church when he stayed with an LDS family in California; two years later, he ran into LDS missionaries in London and began learning about the church. He has worked in transportation, real estate and related fields. In the LDS Church, he has been the president of the Bristol Mission and an area authority.

Elder Cole is from Mesa and went to Mountain View. GO TOROS!
Elder Simon from Romania and his companion Elder Quaresma lives near London.
Sister Boldbaatar is Sister Helstrom and Sister Shaheli's new companion. Sister Boldbaatar is brand-new to the mission today. The sisters met her at our mission tour in Huddersfield and brought her back to Sheffield. They are so excited to be in a threesome. She is from Mongolia and very sweet.

Unified solders on Christmas day 1914. We needed to find what is common between us and unify not divide us. Page 90 PMG the light of Christ. Christ has taken our licking for us. A story by Pres Hinckley tells of a classmate who took he licking for his classmate.

The word oxygen we have never thought of before. Ship wreck sank to the bottom of the ocean. The cook survived in a pocket of water. I am here to take you home. The recovers became rescuer. That is what we are in missionary work. Rescuer. What kind of a teacher are we? As a young stake president he saw many missionaries for his stake to go out as missionaries. One young man had a speech problem. His father had beat the speech out of him. He helped him fill out his papers. A sister came to his office and complained about the teaching in his stake. He told her when you see a problem go and help. He asked the young man to speak in stake conference. When he spoke the crowd was completely silence. All he said was "All I want to do is serve." After the meeting this sister came running up to him. She said she had been taught today by this young man poor of speech. It was the spirit hat taught her. You teach with your heart and they listen to you with power.

Elder Patrick Kearon
He cames to cheer you on. We are doing very well as a mission. The message we have for people they think they don't think their life needs rescuing. They have not tasted the sweet spirit of the gospel. We need to be prepare but it is the spirit that teaches.

Setting apart may be taken literally. Many of us are like a race horse getting ready to go through the gate before we come on our mission. We are set apart for the world and claim it.

1. Finding people to teach
Nothing happens in a missionary life until you find people to teach.
As you think of the most capable missionaries in finding, what are their attributes?
- They are happy.
You have to forget yourself. You can't be miserable and be happy. Who are you? How deeply do you understand that? This is a message of joy. Gordon B Hinckley - forget yourself and go to work. Stop worrying about yourself.
- Be personable and what does the gospel means to you.
Tell people where you are from that will draw questions. Look into their eyes so they will see who you are. Body language
- Be creative, you all got a story to tell.
Always be talking to Heavenly Father
- have a good attitude. You can choice every day your attitude. Choice to be happy.
- be bold and confidence in ourselves and Christ.
- know what you re talking about. Make your study time worthwhile.
Imagine who they can become. Trust in the spirit.

2. How can these attributes be shared?
2 Nephi 4:28 Awake, my soul! No longer droop in sin. Rejoice, O my heart, and give place no more for the enemy of my soul. (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi, Chapter 4) This is Nephi and his father just died. He does not sound like a might man in this verse, he is human. Look for human attributes in the people we teach and in ourselves.
17. O wretched man that I am! Yea, my heart sorroweth because of my flesh; my soul grieve to because of mine iniquities.
18 I am encompassed about, because of the temptations and the sins which do so easily beset me.
19 And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted. (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi, Chapter 4)
Be happy with where we are.
Real intent. Pray with real intent by turning your heart to The Lord.
PMG 156 How will they 'recognize' you?  By your name tag. If you find a gold nugget in a stream keep looking for other nuggets. Go back to your investigators and ask the for names. Is there someone we can pray for that you are concerned about?

Pres. Pilkington
Everything he teaches comes from PMG.
Bad things happen so we can become as God is. Helping others to come to Christ is why we are here. Repentance is a free gift. Knowledge of the truth is so liberating and is not restricting. No other plan comes close.

The Power of the Spirit of Conversion
Three things to help us Boyd K Packer PMG page 92
1. We must understand what an investigator must feel in order to receive conversion.
Know you care about them.
Peace, knowledge, content, encouragement, warm ,uplifting, safe, know it is right,

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (New Testament, Philippians, Chapter 4)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: (New Testament, Galatians, Chapter 5)

2.  We must understand how a missionary must feel in order to teach with converting power of the Spirit.
We speak a different language in the church. Cultural hall, stake center, investigator etc. we are shepherds to these people.

3. We must understand how a member must feel to succeed in participating in the conversion experience.

To better understand how all three feel when they receive the witness of the spirit, the better you will understand your own role, which is to:
- be edified
- create a climate
- follow the guidance of the spirit
- invite people to act
